A retired Harvard pathologist testified at a recent court hearing that a woman who died from ovarian cancer had talc particles in her ovaries. Dr. John Godleski – a retired pathology expert who taught at Harvard University – was called to testify as part of a lawsuit filed on behalf of a woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using talcum powder products manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay more than $110M in damages to a Virginia woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using the company’s talcum powder products. The verdict is the fourth legal defeat for Johnson & Johnson in the Missouri litigation over its talcum baby powder brands, which has resulted in combined verdicts of more than $300 million. (more…)

Illinois woman files talcum powder lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson and Walgreens

An Illinois woman has filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson and Walgreens. The lawsuit alleges that Andrea Harris developed ovarian cancer after years of using talcum powder products manufactured by Johnson & Johnson for feminine hygiene. FDA launches study to examine talcum powder-ovarian cancer link

The Food and Drug Administration recently announced that it will launch a new research study to examine the link between cosmetic products, baby powder, and other products containing talcum powder and an increased risk of ovarian cancer. The FDA said that the new study, funded by the agency’s Office of Women’s Health, was being conducted because the links between talc and ovarian cancer “have not been adequately investigated.” (more…)

Johnson & Johnson and a talc supply company were ordered to pay $70 million in damages to a California woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer linked to her use of talcum powder products for feminine hygiene. Judge sets February 2017 trial date for Missouri talcum powder ovarian cancer lawsuit

A lawsuit filed against Johnson & Johnson over the link between the company’s talcum powder products and an increased risk of ovarian cancer is scheduled to go to trial in February 2017, a Missouri judge has ruled. The lawsuit – which involves the cases of six women who were diagnosed with ovarian cancer after years of using Johnson & Johnson baby powder products for feminine hygiene – is scheduled to go to trial on February 21, 2017 in a St. Louis, Missouri court.
